Devin Haney is currently the biggest boxer in the lightweight division. He was ranked as the world’s best active lightweight by the Transnational Boxing Rankings Board and ESPN. The 23 year made his name very early when he retained the WBC lightweight title against Alfredo Santiago in 2019. Since then the fighter has defended that title on five multiple occasions all via unanimous decision.

Haney’s last fight was against George Kambosos Jr which took place recently Jun 5, 2022 inside the Marvel Stadium Melbourne, Australia. The fight had a fully sold out crowd and the anticipation of it was massive. After twelve rounds, Haney defeated Kambosos by outpointing him. It was a unification bout and Haney retained WBC lightweight title and also
won the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and The Ring lightweight titles.

Haney recently appeared on the Max on Boxing show hosted by Max Kellerman, where the fighter talked about his potential opponents and Gervonta Davis.

While talking about his position in the lightweight division, Haney mentioned that he deserves to be called the undisputed champion of the division. “Undisputed man, you gotta say undisputed . I’m not the champion, I’m the undisputed champion,”. While addressing the WBA (Regular) lightweight title of Davis, Haney said,”Throw it in the trash can.”

When asked about what are his thoughts on fighting Davis in future, Haney revealed that it is something that excites him and he is up for that challenge. He said :

That’s another fight that I don’t mind doing next that’s another fight that I could get up for and it’d be another test for me.”

It seems like Haney has no interest in giving credits to any of his possible opponents. However, a potential fight between Haney and Davis would be something that fights fans would definitely like to see.
