It was an easy win for Devin Haney over Regis Prograis on the weekend. He won the fight via unanimous decision. Haney delivered an impressive, masterful performance against Prograis. Devin completely outclassed and dominated his opponent. However, Haney’s post-fight comments about his DM conversation with Oscar De La Hoya caught everyone’s attention even more.

The fight marked Haney’s official debut in the 140-pound division after he vacated his lightweight titles to move up. At the post-fight press conference, Haney revealed that Oscar De La Hoya had sent him a text wishing him luck before the fight. This is what Haney said about the message: 

He said good luck, do your thing, and I rolled up. I looked at the message before it, and the message said, 'I told him to f**k off. So it was funny.

Hence, Haney revealed how De La Hoya wished him good luck, and Haney cordially reciprocated his gesture. When Haney scrolled back to check their prior message, it made him laugh because of the context of his text.

Haney now has a perfect 31-0 boxing record, and with his victory over Prograis, he became the new WBC super lightweight champion. Furthermore, Haney had expressed his desire to become a two-division champion and now wishes to expand his legacy further.

Haney dominated his opponent, Prograis, and became a two-weight world champion after winning every round of the 12-round bout. Subsequently, Haney moved up a weight class for this bout and vacated his lightweight titles.

Furthermore, boxing fans and experts had presumed that Haney would have a hard time against the power puncher Prograis. In addition, Regis even trolled Haney about the opponents he had knocked out in his career. However, Haney knocked down Prograis in the third round of the fight and ultimately won it. The boxing world, including Ryan Garcia, congratulated Haney on his victory, but Garcia took a sly dig at him.

Hence, Garcia acknowledged that Haney performed stellar and was at his finest while fighting Prograis. Subsequently, Garcia subtly threw shade at Haney by stating that his finest performance currently is not enough to KO somebody. Furthermore, Garcia’s response toward Haney was predictable because of their ongoing beef.
