Abdul Wahid, formerly and more famously Gervonta “Tank” Davis was never on Devin Haney’s to-do list. The two professional boxers have called each other out on several occasions. Haney recently took a swipe at the 29-0 boxer, accusing him of being afraid to face him. Adding fuel to the fire on Haney’s uncensored rant was his father Bill Haney‘s claims of “Tank” not accepting fights.
Haney’s New Year resolution from this time last year, shows him aspiring to beat Vasyl Lomachenko. But nowhere does it indicate that he aimed at fighting Davis at all. A prime reaction retorted to this, saying – “So he never was trying fight Tank like he was saying he was. He always knew he was fighting Loma and moving up…”
Haney and his corner recently blamed Davis for ducking out a $20 Million purse prize fight. Fans, however, had reserved doubts that it follows suit of boxer Subriel Matias‘s imprudent claims. The IBF Light Welterweight had made claims of a “rumored” $4 million fight purse that failed to materialize. Now, with Haney’s recent performance, the $20 million offer seemed similarly dubious. Check out his detailed resolution in the post below.
The 31-0 boxer defeated Lomachenko earlier in 2023, thus retaining his titles. Despite accumulating 116-112, 115-113, and 115-113 on the cards, fans had trolled Haney for shockingly low PPV numbers. Although he did defeat his rival, his new post all but confirms Davis is out of his agenda.
Fans react to Devin Haney’s reminiscent 2023 resolution, leaving out Gervonta Davis
Boxers Devin Haney and Gervonta Davis have had a fiery rivalry going on for the ages. But despite being viewed as an all-time great, time and again Davis has caught heat for avoiding a prized matchup with Haney. Even Haney’s father had chimed in against “Tank”. Now, however, the balance has tilted with efforts from Haney himself.
A recent post from Haney shows an early 2023 resolution to beat Vasyl Lomachenko. But nowhere does Davis turn up in his agenda; and fans have taken notice. Check out a few reactions on the matter, in the tweets down below.
Most fans have culled him for leaving out “Tank” and even Shakur Stevenson. A few have even concluded firmly that his $20 Million offer was all a hoax. A few have even referred to his resolution, mentioning that he did not “beat” Lomachenko, but instead won in the way of decision and controversial judging.
