“I don’t care about Instagram followers” – Devin Haney turns down fight against Ryan Garcia; wants to ‘chase legacy’ instead

Devin Haney talks about possible fight against Ryan Garcia
It is safe to say that the undisputed lightweight champion Devin Haney has no interest in fighting the popular boxer and former interim WBC champion Ryan Garcia.
Devin Haney recently shocked the world when he went to former undisputed champion George Kambosos Jr’s home and snatched all the titles from him with a fantastic performance. Kambosos and Haney fought at the Marvel Stadium in Melbourne, Australia. Devin fought against George where the entire arena was chanting against him and rooting for him to lose. A boxing clinic made sure Haney snatched all the belts to become the new undisputed world lightweight boxing champion.
Following the fight, Ryan Garcia, who once held the interim WBC title down played Haney’s performance and said he would rather fight Gervonta Davis for his next fight. Ryan has a huge social media, despite not holding any titles, and is one of the most popular boxers in the world right now. In a recent interview with Ariel Helwani, Haney talks about the 22-0 boxer and explains why he won’t fight him.
Devin Haney wants his name to “live on forever”

In his interview with Ariel Helwani for MMA Fighting, Devin responded brutally when asked about Ryan Garcia. “He’s popular but I’m chasing legacy,” said Haney. “I don’t care about Instagram followers, I wanna make the biggest fights happen for my legacy. I’m not fighting for followers, I’m fighting for my name to live on forever.”
Haney’s fellow lightweight also criticized Haney for his performance against George Kambosos which many considered was a boxing masterclass. “BORING!!!” Ryan wrote on Twitter reacting to Devin’s unanimous decision to win to become the undisputed champion. “Congrats to Haney…but it was definitely just a bland fight, Anyways I’ll just say, you know who I want after Fortuna,” wrote Garcia in his tweets.
Garcia last fought inside the ring on April 9, 2022, against Emmanuel Tagoe. Garcia won the fight via unanimous decision and also scored a stunning knockdown in the second round.
