Professional boxer Dmitry Bivol is said to be a rising star in boxing. His fame skyrocketed due to his dominant victory over champion Canelo Alvarez. Although the Mexican boxer was able to land powerful shots, Bivol was unfazed and fought forward. Eventually managing to outpoint ‘Saul,’ the Russian boxer emerged victorious against someone who was close to undefeated.
Following the bout, fans have been anticipating a rematch. Both sides have been calling each other out, though the negotiations have fallen through. Canelo Alvarez has been demanding a second fight against the Russian fighter to avenge the humiliating loss he suffered in 2022. Recently, Bivol gave his thoughts on the alleged demands given by Alvarez’s team for the rematch.
In an interview with ‘Seconds Out,’ Dmitry Bivol had this to say, “It’s not disrespectful for me,” referencing the offer by Canelo’s team. The Mexican boxer’s alleged negotiations were said to have provided no offers. “I think it’s some way for him [Canelo Alvarez] to say that, he didn’t agree to this fight. Some excuses for him. It’s funny. Of course, nobody says they want the same terms on the rematch,” said Bivol. He then went on to make a hilarious comparison.
“I could say that I wanna fight Joshua [Anthony Joshua] and next, Fury [Tyson Fury] but I wanna fight on Mars,” joked Dmitry Bivol. In the interview, the fighter trolled Canelo Alvarez for the negotiations for the rematch falling through. According to Bivol, the Mexican boxer gave egregious excuses to pull out of the fight.

Alvarez and Bivol went head-to-head in 2022. In a shocking upset, the Russian fighter emerged victorious. Since then, both parties have spoken about a potential rematch. After revealing the alleged rough negotiations and ducking the fight, Bivol went in-depth on the matter. He also spoke about the current state of the much-anticipated bout.
“We are nowhere against the fight with Canelo, to be honest,” said Dmitry Bivol as he chuckled. He then continued, “This is why I don’t like to talk about it. I think about my own way. And, he talks about I want a rematch, okay you want a rematch, but you do nothing. I don’t know why. He wanna take another chance to get my belt. But, he doesn’t wanna risk his belt,” said the Russian boxer.
As he said it himself, the rematch is not close to being finalized. In boxing, contractual agreements never come to fruition. This has been a major issue in the sport for a considerable amount of time. And now, Canelo Alvarez and Dmitry Bivol have fallen victim to it.
