Former US President Donald Trump has demonstrated a keen interest in combat sports throughout his career. In his financial filings, he disclosed a substantial net worth nearing $1 billion dollars, shedding light on various sources of income. These revenue streams encompass earnings from foreign ventures, speaking engagements, and the success of his Florida-based golf course. Notably, Trump garnered a significant amount of income from his involvement in commentating at the Triller boxing event, further showcasing his involvement and financial gains within the combat sports industry.
The former President supposedly earned around $2.5 million dollars from the Triller Legends II event, as reported by the Washington Post. There were initial reports saying that Trump was paid an “obscene” amount of money for commentating on the card. Triller also provided Trump with a G-5 jet to pick him up from his home which was less than an hour’s drive away.
Triller promoted the fight as a crossover event which was headlined by legendary boxing champion Evander Holyfield and UFC veteran Vitor Belfort. Holyfield lost due to a devastating TKO against Belfort. Holyfield, even at 58 years old, looked in good shape, which impressed fans. The UFC veteran double-saluted Trump after his dominant win.
The event did face major losses when it recorded just 150,000 buys. This caused Triller’s previous PR firm to part ways with the company soon after some time. Trump’s hosting was not the best financial decision for Triller as the event did not live up to its expectations. Trump also supposedly earned 2 million dollars from speaking at events for the Universal Peace Federation.
Donald Trump’s boxing commentary and event gigs
Donald Trump’s long-standing interest in boxing events has remained prominent over the years. His most recent foray into the boxing world was during the Triller event, where he was joined by his son, Donald Trump Jr., for a commentary role. The duo teamed up to provide commentary for a series of four fights held at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Florida, as reported by ESPN.
In addition to his interest in boxing, former President Donald Trump had notable financial involvement in the sport. He hosted a highly anticipated bout between Mike Tyson and Michael Spinks at the Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City. This high-profile event received significant attention and promotion due to Trump’s association with it. The fight itself was a brief affair, with Tyson delivering a stunning knockout of Spinks in just 91 seconds. Following the fight, Tyson chose to enlist Trump as his financial advisor.
Trump was spotted recently at the entertaining UFC 290 event and made headlines. He was seen interacting with various actors and sportspersons. He also interacted with the fighters after the event.
