After his sensational fight against Tyson Fury on October 28, Francis Ngannou might next fight Anthony Joshua. Fans are in a frenzy after the former UFC heavyweight champion performed so well against the WBC heavyweight champion. Despite the split decision, fight fans and experts have attributed the victory to Ngannou rather than Fury.
Furthermore, boxing promoter Eddie Hearn was one of the many people who thought Ngannou had won the bout. During an interview on The MMA Hour, Hearn discussed the possibility of a PFL heavyweight match. Subsequently, Hearn believes that a fight between Anthony Joshua and Ngannou could be the biggest fight in boxing history.
In addition, Hearn stated:
Perhaps in Africa, perhaps the Rumble in the Jungle 2, is one of the biggest fights in the history of the sport. And I promise you this: respect for Francis; easy work for my man, Anthony Joshua.
Hence, Hearn believes that a fight between Ngannou and Joshua would be a pay-per-view sensation. Furthermore, Hearn is convinced that Joshua can easily beat Ngannou and has boldly stated that the MMA world will stop daydreaming. Subsequently, Hearn stated that regardless of Ngannou’s stellar performance against Fury, he cannot defeat Joshua.
Francis Ngannou’s future in boxing will depend on whether he decides to fight outside of the rematch against Fury. However, a huge fight against Anthony Joshua on the African stage could be tempting. In addition, there is a possibility that Ngannou might next fight Deontay Wilder inside a boxing ring or an Octagon.
The historic Rumble in the Jungle fight
Muhammad Ali’s fight with George Foreman, also known as the Rumble in the Jungle, captured the world’s imagination. This fight took place while the Vietnam War was ongoing, so it provided a distraction from the conflict.
Ali returned to the sport after a hiatus of three and a half years due to his opposition to taking part in the war. The fight was an extraordinary event, but it was also associated with the reign of a tyrannical ruler who had been in power in the region. Recorded for eternity, the fight became a legend in the history of boxing and is still remembered.
The 40-1 underdog Ali won by KO in the 8th round, cementing his legacy as the greatest of all time. Ali’s unorthodox approach of utilizing the ring’s ropes to his advantage wore Foreman down and resulted in a decisive victory.
