While Kamaru Usman’s manager Ali Abdelaziz has spoken from Usman’s side, boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has given his take from Canelo Alvarez’s side. Usman, the reigning defending UFC welterweight champion has expressed his interest in a boxing match against the current pound-for-pound #1 Alvarez, the interest has elevated to such a level that Abdelaziz even jumped the bandwagon to help Usman get the fight via talking to Alvarez on Twitter.

The Twitter back-and-forth between Usman and Abdelaziz on one side and Alvarez on the other went quite hostile, but in the end, it was Usman that ended the conversation with his interest ending officially. Only time will tell if Usman has really moved forward from this desire, but as of now, even UFC President Dana White cannot fancy the idea of one of his fighters boxing one of the greatest boxers of this generation, even if his fighter is current pound for pound great in MMA.

In an interview with The Mac Life, promoter Eddie Hearn, boxing promoter and chairman of Matchroom Sport, talked about his fighter Katie Taylor going against Amanda Serrano on April 30, in Madison Square Garden in what is meant historically to be the first women’s combat sports event. Hearn followed this with his take on the potential buildup of the Usman v/s Alvarez fight.

“We all know that if Canelo Alvarez boxed Usman in a boxing match, it would be the most embarrassing mismatch of all time and maybe if Canelo boxed him or fought him in MMA rules, Usman would be the favourite… I’ve heard Dana White not speak favourably about that fight understandably, so but if he ever did want to do it, we’re doing it in a heartbeat,” says Hearn.

Based on how Usman’s manager Ali Abdelaziz did his job of making the fight happen in any way possible “I don’t really know Ali Abdelaziz but he embarrassed himself there you know… [but] no man’s full either, he has no idea when he’s talking about boxing, I have no idea when I’m talking about UFC, so we’re the same, really, he concluded.
