The WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury and the former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou fought each other in their highly anticipated crossover bout. Subsequently, ‘The Battle of the Baddest’ bout was held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Unfortunately, Fury let boxing fans and experts down after his poor performance against Ngannou.

Tyson Fury‘s controversial split decision victory over the former UFC champion has been met with disapproval. As such, boxing promoter Eddie Hearn reacted to the fight during an interview post-fight by stating:

I mean, I didn’t think he (Ngannou) was very impressive, but Tyson Fury looked like he’s never laced up a pair of gloves before. I got dropped; it was the third round. Ngannou never threw a punch after. I thought Ngannou won by two rounds.

Furthermore, Hearn stated that Fury should forget about his unification bout at the end of the year against Oleksandr Usyk. Subsequently, Hearn boldly stated that Anthony Joshua can KO Fury if this is his current performance inside the ring. Hearn further said that Fury should next fight Joshua or rematch Ngannou instead of fighting Usyk because of Fury’s underwhelming performance.

Hence, Hearn expressed how Ngannou’s performance was impressive, especially since it was his professional debut. Hearn also stated that, in his opinion, Ngannou won the bout by two rounds, which reflects the corruption and bias in boxing.

During the exchange, a reporter interrupted to point out that the fight had been in the making for some time. He then asked Fury to give his opinion on Usyk and when their fight would potentially be. To this, Fury replied:

Let’s go now if you want. It’ll be our next fight guaranteed

Fury appeared to be serious with his response and stated that the next time both fighters enter a ring, it will be to fight each other. Hence, the tentative date for the bout is expected to be December 23, but it may get delayed to early 2024.
