Recently, the boxing community has been rattled by controversial comments made by Errol Spence Jr., a prominent welterweight boxer. Spence Jr. created havoc after he shared his thoughts on transgender individuals competing in boxing on his social media recently. 

While the topic of transgender inclusion in sports is a complex and sensitive issue, Errol Spence Jr.‘s explicit remarks have sparked a heated debate within the boxing community and beyond. Subsequently, his remarks were related to the new transgender policy of USA boxing, which allows transgender people to compete in women’s boxing.

Oh yea if you was born as a man you shouldn't be allowed to fight women... if born with a d**k you should fight another person born with one too.

Hence, the welterweight shared his view on the controversial and sensitive topic and stated that men should not fight women. In addition, he stated that people born with the male reproductive organ should fight others with the same. Some argued that Spence Jr. was entitled to his opinion, while others criticized his comments for being discriminatory and lacking empathy. 

The transgender policy is a sensitive topic because a vast majority believe that athletes should be allowed to compete based on their gender identity. While this approach promotes inclusivity, a vast majority of people believe that it removes fairness from the sport. 

Errol Spence Jr. blames his loss to Terence Crawford on his cataract 

After going quiet on social media for months, Spence Jr. made a surprise announcement. He broke his silence by announcing that he had undergone cataract surgery on his right hand. Subsequently, he released a video with a brief explanation, which was later removed from his social media.

In addition, Spence Jr. stated that he had to get the surgery done because it was due before his fight with Terence Crawford. The boxer also remarked that he wasn’t able to see most of Crawford’s jabs because of his eye. However, Spence Jr. did not downplay Crawford’s performance or his loss and even stated that Crawford performed well.

His announcement comes almost six months after his loss to Crawford in the main event of the WBC welterweight championship. While many were impressed with Crawford’s performance, some were critical of Errol Spence Jr.’s performance.
