Former IBF super middleweight champion Caleb Plant was seen slapping WBC middleweight champion Jermall Charlo in the face in a new video taken backstage at the T-Mobile Arena on Friday afternoon after the Spence vs. Crawford ceremonial weigh-ins, nearly starting a fight between the two boxers and their teams.
The real reason for the altercation is yet to be discovered but Plant looked pretty furious while hitting Charlo. However, Charlo managed the situation differently and didn’t try to hit back plant. Instead the fighter was calm and was trying to know what happened.
Nobody really knows why the Tennessee boxer behaved in this manner, and everything is unclear. However, after the bout and numerous attempts to separate the two boxers. Plant shouted to Charlo “Don’t take me in the face like that again, boy“.
Plant, has a record of 22-2 with 13 knockouts, hasn’t engaged in action since losing a decision to David Benavidez in March of last year for the WBC interim super middleweight title.
Charlo (32-0, 22 KOs) competes at 160 pounds, it was anticipated that he will increase his weight to take on Canelo Alvarez. That battle finally ended in failure.
Conor McGregor reacts to Caleb Plant slapping Jermall Charlo at Crawford vs Spence weigh-ins
The brawl between Caleb Plant and Jermall Charlo got a lot of attention from fight fans. Given the stage was set for Errol Spence and Terence Crawford, some fans were disappointed in both the fighters for getting into a scuffle.
Conor McGregor seems to be unhappy with the way Jermall Charlo dealt with the situation and let go of the plan without doing anything.
The fighter went online and made a tweet in which he wrote: “Get right back here this second, sir, you’re going nowhere till we settle this dispute here and now. Wtf is going on there? Clean cracked and lets him walk out? No. Nope. Nah. Not a f****n hope.”
According to the former UFC double champion, Charlo got hit clean on her face but decided to do nothing and stand silently. McGregor revealed that it’s not the way one should deal and Charlo should have hit back.
