“Why care when you dare?” This is the philosophy of influencer-turned-boxer Jake Paul. With a current standing of 9-1 (6KOs), Paul is nonchalantly ludicrous, if nothing else. He last faced Ryan Bourland with a record of 17-3. Concurrently, he faced a lot of flak on the Golden Gloves champ rival amateurishly not even spamming back shots. But Paul just did not care; soon after he rocked the combat sports bubble with news of facing Boxing HOF recipient Mike Tyson.
Paul meets the boxer – 30 years his senior, in a supposed exhibition bout on July 20. This happens at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. He has often touted his crossover bouts with former UFC stars, Anderson Silva, Tyron Woodley, and Ben Askren as massive successes. However, this is a case which is close to his heart. Quipping about it though, here’s what he said in an extended promo trailer on his official YouTube channel –
[On meeting Mike Tyson] It was all going great...I was meeting my childhood hero for the first time, And then he said this...[Tyson thinking of him as Logan Paul]...I mean people, imagine meeting your childhood hero...and they call you your brother's name! We don't even fu*king look alike! And ever since that day, Mike...I've wanted to knock you the fu*k out.Jake Paul in the extended “I’m Fighting Mike Tyson” promo on his YouTube channel

Both he and Mike Tyson have consensually flirted with the idea of an exhibition matchup for long. Paul has remained adamant about making a massive buyout facing “the greatest heavyweight of all time.” Tyson wasn’t opposed to it either. Raving about him in ET’s Kevin Frazier‘s convo about his Netflix documentary, ‘Untold‘, Tyson lauded the YouTuber doing more for boxing than the current lineup.
Hence comes the skit of him facing his childhood hero. The segment also saw Jake Paul hilariously, and preemptively mimic Tyson’s iconic face tattoo. He even made parody sketches of Tyson’s iconic moments and infamous ear-bite to Evander Holyfield. All in all, the matter is already shaping up to be a great discourse.
Social Media and fight sphere weigh in on Jake Paul-Mike Tyson announcement
Jake Paul, the 27-year-old YouTube influencer-turned-pro boxer will meet Mike Tyson after his 10th pro boxing outing. The supposed match takes place July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, home of the Dallas Cowboys. Consequently, Netflix will be historically airing the matter in a momentous first.

‘Iron Mike‘ won his first 19 pro-boxing bouts with KOs (12 in the 1st) thus becoming the consensus heavyweight G.O.A.T in boxing. Mike Tyson remained the undisputed heavyweight champ for 3 long years, summing up a stout 50-6-1 record.
However, Jake Paul has opened up a betting favorite against the then-58 boxing legend. Strong or not, a certain decline is bound to come along with the advancement of age. Hence, here’s how certain MMA personalities have reacted on the matter –
DraftKings Sportsbook has opened up Paul as the -360 betting favorite. Meanwhile, ‘Iron Mike‘ clocks in as an underdog, crediting to a few X accounts circulating that he was carrying a cane even two years back. Funnily enough, UFC’s Renato Moicano has quoted actor Dolph Lundgren‘s famous line from the Rocky franchise to it.
The likes of play-by-play commentator Michael Bisping, KSI, and Dillon Danis have sneered at him for opting for an older opponent. All in all the matter is gaining much traction.
