The title fight between Errol Spence Jr. and Terence Crawford ended in crowning the first undisputed welterweight title in boxing. Crawford walked with rap legend Eminem for his walkout and dominated Errol for most of the bout. He became the undisputed champion and will forever remain in the history books. However, he also had another significant moment in the night. Terence Crawford fired some insults at Jermell Charlo after the title bout.
Jermell Charlo and his brother Jermall Charlo have remained in the headlines for unnecessary and unwanted incidents. They made more headlines in the fight week of Errol Spence Jr. vs. Terence Crawford than the boxers competing for the undisputed belt. A video shows that Crawford talked some trash to Jermell after the knockdown of Errol.
Both Terence and Jermell have beefed for some time. Jermell picked Errol to win the undisputed welterweight title fight. Before the fight, Terence warned Jermell to stop being a cheerleader and coming in between his fight with Errol. It all boiled over in Las Vegas during the title fight. Crawford kept his undefeated record and warned Charlo that he could be next.
Crawford made the bout look so easy. Despite the billing of a great welterweight title bout, Spence Jr. did not offer any threat to “Bud.” Crawford remains closer to the record of Floyd Mayweather than any other fighter. It does not look like anyone else in the division will offer a threat to Crawford that gives him a legitimate chance to match the record of Floyd Mayweather.
Terence Crawford silences his critics
Terence “Bud” Crawford does not have the best relationship with the media. They have always tried to downplay his achievement one after the other. They also did not expect Crawford to stop Errol Spence Jr. as he did in Las Vegas. He who laughs last laughs longest became the approach by Bud after the victory.
Crawford became the undisputed welterweight champion and recorded a legendary status at the age of 35. He said, “For all you guys that said I was too small, I was actually too strong. Now they get to witness greatness. It’s the Terence Crawford era.”
In the past, Crawford beefed with promoter Bob Arum for not properly promoting him despite his accolades. He remains a force to be reckoned with despite not having a personality like Muhammad Ali or Mike Tyson. Crawford has remained humble but took the opportunity to humble the critics for their unnecessary and harsh treatment.
