Callum Walsh is an undefeated Irish boxer. He kept his unbeaten record intact with an unexpected unanimous decision victory over Ismael Villarreal. The bout was part of a seven-event card at Madison Square Garden Theater in New York City.
The event was attended by several well-known people, like legendary boxer Larry Holmes, WWE president Nick Khan, former professional wrestler Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque, and former boxing champion Teofimo Lopez. Furthermore, UFC CEO Dana White also attended the event and has been an active advocate of Callum Walsh. In the 10th, Villarreal scored a knockdown with less than two minutes left in the round.
Furthermore, Walsh staggered to his feet and looked more tired than hurt. However, Villarreal was unable to finish him off before the final bell. An energetic Villarreal attacked Walsh aggressively with two straight right hands just before the final bell. However, it was not enough to KO Walsh, and the bout was left to the decision of the judges.
Walsh, who was backed by a large Irish contingent, was awarded the fight via unanimous decision. Subsequently, Judge Max de Luca scored it 97-92, Glenn Feldman scored it 97-92, and Eric Marlinski scored the fight 96-93. Hence, the decision was deemed controversial and rigged because of how it played out.

Walsh has been a rising star in the boxing world and has a 9-0 record. Furthermore, Walsh has a close relationship with White, who has repeatedly vouched for him. However, his most recent victory over remains controversial due to the mighty performance of his opponent. During the fight, Walsh showed resilience after enduring a headbutt, a low blow, and his career’s first knockdown.
However, Walsh recovered quickly and appeared more tired than damaged during the end of the fight. Marlinski continued his attacks and hit Walsh with two straight rights before the fight ended. Subsequently, many fans justified the decision by calling the sport of boxing rigged. In addition, this has been a common sentiment amongst fans, especially after Tyson Fury controversially won against Francis Ngannou.
