Devin Haney and Vasiliy Lomachenko will compete in the biggest fight of their career against each other. Haney is the undisputed lightweight champion, whereas Loma is the challenger in the hunt for the crown. Devin Haney has an undefeated record and defeated a dangerous Australian boxer George Kambosos Jr in back-to-back fights.
ESPN Boxing Insider Mike Coppinger reported, “Devin Haney and Vasiliy Lomachenko both made weight Friday morning in Las Vegas. Haney, the undisputed lightweight champion, weighed 134.9 pounds while Lomachenko came in at the division limit of 135. With the weigh-in approximately 36 hours before ring walks, Haney should be far bigger on fight night.” However, Haney went on Twitter to poke fun at Loma, weighing heavier than him.
He wrote, “Plot Twist… he was heavier than me.” Boxing fans call Haney a weight bully for cutting too much weight and rehydrating back to an optimal weight for his fights. Haney trolled the fans with quick-witted humor. He will defend the undisputed lightweight title for the second time against Lomachenko.
The two fighters were once scheduled to fight before Loma lost his belt to Teofimo Lopez. Three years later, both will clash inside the boxing ring in Las Vegas. Vasiliy Lomachenko will look to win the undisputed title from Haney when they fight. Loma is now in his thirties, and the title shot against Haney could probably be his last one for an undisputed title.
