Robert Helenius stepped in on short notice to fight Anthony Joshua in London. The bout was supposed to be a rematch between Joshua and Dillain Whyte. However, Whyte failed a drug test, leading the Finnish boxer to replace him. The fight lasted only seven rounds as Anthony Joshua landed a swift knockout to put Helenius away in a devastating fashion.

The fight started slowly, with both fighters trying to regain momentum. Anthony Joshua approached the fight with a calculative mindset, whereas Helenius exerted his discipline from the beginning. The commentators felt that Helenius’s approach started frustrating AJ for several rounds. However, taking the fight on short notice eventually caught up with Helenius. As the rounds progressed, Helenius felt the tiredness that led AJ to land the knockout punch.

Joshua did not falter despite getting frustrated by Helenius. The British fighter has set his sights on former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder. Joshua and Wilder have been a dream fight for boxing fans. However, it took them until 2023 to outrightly pursue a fight. Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn has talked about a massive card in Saudi Arabia where Joshua could face Wilder.

Andy Lee stated that Joshua has the technical advantage, but Wilder can knock out anyone with one punch. Joshua has now put on a two-fight winning streak after his back-to-back losses against Oleksandr Usyk. Wilder will look to get back to another title shot, and a victory over Joshua could ensure it.
