UFC star Colby Covington was in attendance at one of the most anticipated fights of 2023. Ryan Garcia versus Gervonta Davis had been in the talks for years. Both are incredibly talented fighters, in their prime and with a huge following of dedicated fans.
Therefore when the fight was declared, fans got thrilled to see the two young bucks finally go at each other. The T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas was packed with fans and the fighters put on an exhilarating performance. Davis forces Garcia to the mat with a left hook in the second round. Ryan Garcia landed shots of his own, pressuring Davis.
But it was the body shot in round seven, that brought it all to an end. Gervonta Davis delivered a powerful shot to the body in the seventh round. Garcia took the hit but backed up right after and then took a knee. Garcia was shaking his head as the referee counted to ten.
Ryan Garcia was unable to get up and thus concluded one of the most eagerly awaited fights of 2023. This fight marked Ryan Garcia’s first career loss, officially bringing his perfect pro record to 23-1. Meanwhile, Gervonta Davis remains undefeated and emerged as the victor.

The Ryan Garcia vs Gervonta Davis saw many high-profile attendees including Floyd Mayweather and UFC welterweight star Colby Covington. Covington later posts a picture on Instagram and captions it, “Special Guest Enforcer ????? #DavisGarcia.”
Netizens were quick to react to Covington’s post. One fan commented, “Colby “call the cops” Covington back it at????????.” Another said, “Ryan took a knee tonight for the first responders” and many more such referring to the controversy between Covington and recently retired UFC veteran Jorge Masvidal. The former friends turned enemies have a very tumultuous relationship. Masvidal allegedly attacked Covington outside a restaurant in Miami and Covington called the police on him.
Colby Covington is reportedly set to face Leon Edwards for the Welterweight title shot later this year. Covington had weighed in earlier at UFC 286 as a backup fighter for Leon Edwards vs Kamaru Usman and now will face the champion himself.
