After several callouts, cancelled fights and rumors WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury will be fighting Francis Ngannou. While many believe the fight is a great opportunity for Ngannou, Fury is highly criticized. The British boxer seems to have also lost his fans as they rally their support for Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk.

After his third fight against Derek Chisora, Tyson Fury had been in search of his next opponent.’ The Gypsy King’ promised several huge fights to his fans and had them anticipating his return. Fury first announced an undisputed title fight with Ukrainian unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk. The fight was supposed to take place in Abu Dhabi with Anthony Joshua vs Deontay Wilder for the undercard. However, the card fell apart as Fury had unrealistic financial demands.

He then offered fights to other heavyweight fighters but all of them never materialized and fans started calling out Fury for making fake promises. Now, instead of fighting a legitimate heavyweight contender, Tyson Fury will be fighting against Francis Ngannou in an exhibition bout. Usyk in the lead-up to his fight against Daniel Dubois has revealed the British fighter is scared of him.

“Doesn’t it seem strange that instead of choosing a top-10 guy, he is choosing someone who has never boxed before? Greedy belly is afraid of me,” said Usyk. Generally, fans would have trolled the Ukrainian fighter for calling out The Gypsy King. However, after his recent fight announcement, British fans seem to have switched sides.

Tyson Fury recently announced that he will be fighting former UFC champion Francis Ngannou in an exhibition bout in Saudi Arabia. The exhibition bout will be the Predator’s boxing debut and many fight fans are stoked for his return. However, boxing fans do not feel the same for Tyson Fury. British Fans have grown tired of Fury ducking heavyweight contenders and have started supporting Oleksandr Usyk.

The unified heavyweight champion was supposed to fight Fury for an undisputed bout. However, the fight did not materialize as the Ukranian fighter claimed Fury had unreal demands. Now Usyk will be fighting British heavyweight boxer Daniel Dubois to defend his unified title. In the lead-up to his fight, Oleksandr even called out Tyson Fury for ducking him and referred to him as greedy belly.

The term greedy belly stuck with Fury’s fans and they decided to switch sides and support Usyk. “ Most UK fans would root for Usky now. Greedy Belly’s a sellout,” commented one user. Usyk is set to defend his title against Daniel Dubois on August 26. Meanwhile, Fury will face Ngannou much later this year in October.
