Florida commission hands suspension to John Gotti III for causing chaotic brawl at Floyd Mayweather fight

Floyd Mayweather’s exhibition bout with John Gotti III is constantly appearing in headlines due to its chaotic nature. The exhibition bout ended in an unusual disqualification that led to a huge brawl. While Gotti III started the brawl without any thought, his actions are landing him with some serious issues. The Mafia-connected fighter was recently handed a six-month submission for starting a skirmish.
Floyd Mayweather vs John Gotti III had a heated build-up that fans thought would be resolved in the ring. However, Floyd being levels above Gotti III, toyed with him inside the ring. The bout was completely lopsided and saw Floyd outclassing his opponent. Gotti III was also warned for excessive trash-talking and repeatedly grabbing Mayweather. However, since he failed to comply, the bout was stopped abruptly. Referee Kenny Bayles disqualified Gotti III midway through the sixth round and Floyd Mayweather was handed an easy win.
Although the bout was stopped, Gotti III shoved the referee aside and charged Mayweather. Both fighters tried to land punches and soon after that Floyd’s team members entered the ring to stop the fight. This led to a chaotic brawl between members of both camps. Multiple blows were exchanged and a lot of issues arose while containing the situation. Keeping this in mind The Florida State Athletic Commission announced a six-month suspension for Gotti III.
“The DBPR Florida Athletic Commission took immediate action the evening of Sunday, June 11, and suspended John Gotti III for six months,” said the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation during an interview with USA Today. Only John Gotti III was penalized for starting a brawl after the fight, Floyd Mayweather faced no judgment from the commission.

Floyd Mayweather’s recent exhibition bout with John Gotti III took a turn for crazy. The unusual stoppage due to excessive trash-talking led to John losing his temper. He attacked Mayweather, despite the referee stopping the bout which was followed by members from Floyd’s camp entering the ring. This started a huge brawl that was a bit difficult to control.
Famous sports personality and journalist Stephen A. Smith has weighed in on the aftermath of the fight. According to Stephen, the exhibition fights put forth by Floyd Mayweather are heavily entertaining. However, he also criticised Money for fighting unqualified fighters despite being one of the greatest boxers. As for the chaotic brawl, A. Smith did not seem to mind it that much.
” That little melee and stuff don’t matter to me. As far as I’m concerned, it could’ve potentially been orchestrated. I don’t know, but I do know not just anybody should be allowed to be in the ring with Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather. I just believe that, ” said Stephen Smith. While Stephen Smith might have no interest in the brawl, John Gotti III has taken it personally. He’s declared Floyd an enemy for life and even his sister has threatened Mayweather’s daughter hours after the brawl.
