Floyd Mayweather has never minced his words when it comes to claiming that he is the greatest. The undefeated 50-0 boxer is a rare fighter to emerge in the sport. This can be seen when you consider the weight division titles he has acquired and the number of champions he has fought against. Mayweather is also undeniably the most highly paid boxer to emerge in the history of the sport.

Hence, this had always led Mayweather to stake his claim at being the greatest boxer to ever exist. Subsequently, during a recent interview with Zoom, Mayweather was asked about which other fighters were on the list of GOATs, the way Mayweather is. Normally, when people discuss boxing GOATs, the list includes boxers like Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson. However, Mayweather believes that he cannot be restricted to such a list and is the only greatest fighter. Furthermore, Mayweather stated:

Its only one GOAT and we all know that's true and we don't wanna fool ourselves. It's not bragging it's not boasting it's the truth.

Floyd Mayweather reiterated his point by mentioning that he is the only fighter to defeat 16 champions in the sport. In addition, he mentioned that no other fighter has ever been able to achieve the pay-per-view numbers that he did.

Mayweather also referred to his fight with Manny Pacquiao and Canelo Alvarez while speaking about his PPV numbers. The fight with Pacman reportedly made him around 180 million dollars. Mayweather now believes that boxing is now handing out championship belts to fighters, making it easier to become a champion. Hence, he believes that he is the greatest because during his time it wasn’t easy to win a championship belt, and the competition was much stiffer.

Floyd Mayweather reflects on his regrets in life

While Mayweather relished the glory he has gained from his career, he also reflected on things that he regrets. As such, Mayweather revealed that he regrets beefing with his father and not seeing eye to eye on several aspects. This might have also happened since Floyd Mayweather Sr. went to prison for several years.

Hence, even though Mayweather Sr. taught him boxing, they had an estranged relationship for a long time. Furthermore, during the interview with Zoom, Mayweather stated that he does not regret the decision he took when he was younger. This is because those decisions led to where he is now. However, Mayweather has now reached a point where he does not want to undermine his family at all.

This realization may have come with age and maturity. At the same time, it appears to have also come from grief and loss since Mayweather reflected on his uncle Roger Mayweather‘s death. His uncle had a huge part in training him to be the boxer he became.
