In the world of boxing, there is one family that always stands out, and it is the Mayweather family. A rare image on social media showed the tight bond that runs through this family, and it has now captured the hearts of millions. It is a well-known fact that Floyd Mayweather Jr. was born into a family that is deeply rooted in boxing. 

Mayweather Jr. grew up learning the art of boxing from his father before he went to prison. Hence, when Mayweather’s father, Floyd Mayweather Sr., wasn’t around, he still had his uncles. Hence, Roger Mayweather and Jeff Mayweather led their family’s name into the sport. Currently, the Mayweather family has extended into the fourth generation with the birth of Mayweather’s grandson.

Recently, Floyd Mayweather Jr. shared a video stating,

Even though my dad is dealing with dementia, he is still a great man, and I enjoy these priceless moments. Dressing and singing to his great-grandson was amazing.

Mayweather Jr. shared a priceless moment between his father and his grandson on social media with a heartfelt message. The video is a one-on-one between two generations of boxers in a sacred and intimate moment away from the ring. Furthermore, Mayweather Jr. revealed that his 71-year-old father is currently suffering from dementia. 

However, even with his illness, Mayweather Sr. can be seen meticulously taking care of his great-grandson. A grim aspect of the heartwarming post is that dementia has no cure, and this means Mayweather Jr’s father’s memory will only worsen. 

Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s relationship with his father

Mayweather Sr. fought in the sport in the 1970s and 1980s and was a Brox-born boxer. Furthermore, he came under the spotlight during the mid-70s by convincing audiences he was a knockout specialist. In 1992, the boxer was arrested and sentenced to five and a half years in prison on drug charges.

During this time, his son, Mayweather Jr., was building his foundation in the sport as an amateur. Subsequently, during his father’s absence, his brothers, Jeff and Roger, trained and supported him. In addition, Mayweather Jr.’s relationship with his father became strained at times because of periods of estrangement and disagreements.

However, the father and son were able to reconcile and reconnect even after all of that. Now, as another generation of the Mayweather family makes headlines, Mayweather Sr. is making sure to be part of their lives.
