There is no doubt that Devin Haney is one of the best boxers of his generation. However, it is debatable whether he is as good or better than Floyd Mayweather. We all know that Mayweather trained Haney early in his career, so it should be no surprise that they would train together. As such, Ryan Garcia recently claimed that Mayweather showed him the infamous sparring video between Gervonta Davis and Haney.
Furthermore, Garcia revealed that Haney was dominated by Davis. This led Garcia to taunt Devin Haney during the press conference, and Bill Haney fired back at Mayweather directly for this. Subsequently, Bill suggested that his son not only train under but also beat Mayweather during a sparring session. As such, Bill stated:
He finally decided he could no longer be in the boxing ring with no real fighters anymore. Devin was the one who stamped it. He knew the torch had to be passed.Bill Haney via FightHub TV
Hence, Bill stated that Mayweather should have shown Garcia the sparring match between him and his son. Furthermore, Haney revealed that the sparring match was not even close, and it was scored 6-0. Bill also stated that this was before Mayweather fought against Conor McGregor, right before his retirement.
In addition, Bill claimed that this sparring match led Mayweather to realize that he could not fight real boxers in their prime. As such, according to Bill, his son is the person who made Mayweather realize that he had to retire and pass the torch to Haney.
Devin Haney claims Ryan Garcia was drunk
The pre-fight press conference for the April 20th boxing match between Haney and Garcia was heated, and there’s a reason why. Haney and Garcia squared off in Las Vegas earlier this month to promote their highly anticipated boxing match. It will be one of the biggest fights of the year, and it didn’t take long for the two of them to get into it.
The WBC super lightweight champion hit out at the young boxer during a recent interview on FightHubTV. Furthermore, Haney claimed that Garcia was drunk during the pre-fight press conference. In addition, Haney mentioned that Garcia was not ready for this fight and stated that the fight could be postponed.
Subsequently, Garcia was as boisterous as ever and went toe-to-toe with Eddie Hearn at the pre-fight press conference. The fighters also had a heated confrontation that ended in a face-off that had to be broken up. During the confrontation, they got close to each other, which resulted in Haney spelling Garcia’s breath.
