“It’s do or die” – Former lightweight champion George Kambosos hints at retirement under these circumstances

Devin Haney vs. George Kambosos Jr. 2 is all set to take place on October 15 at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia. The pair will face each other for the second time this year after their first clash back in June.

In the first fight, Haney shocked the world and beat Kambosos winning the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and The Ring lightweight titles. The title unification fight didn’t go well for Kambosos who lost on his home turf. The rematch will be a great opportunity for the ‘Ferocious’ to get his revenge.

Recently, boxing fans and media were all focused on the Devin Haney vs. George Kambosos Jr. 2 Kick-off press conference that took place Tuesday. Both fighters were confident and did everything it takes to get into each other’s heads.

During the Kick-off press conference of Haney vs Kambosos 2, George Kambosos revealed that it is an extremely important match of his career.

The Australian explained that he is growing old and it this fight will decide whether he will continue boxing or not. Kambosos mentioned that if he loses this fight he will not compete anymore. The fighter is sure that he will give his everything to the fight and will win the fight. He said :

“It’s a great division but for me, I’m 29 so for me it’s do or die. If I don’t overcome this fight you will not see me back in Australia fighting domestic guys; that’s not me. Everything I have I will be putting into that ring and me training, and god willing I will be victorious.”

Kambosos revealed that he will be making some much important changes and Devin will do it too. The former champion suggested that he wants to be in a slugfest and it should entertain the fans.

“The changes will be made and I’m sure Haney is going to make more changes as well and I look forward to doing my talking in the ring,” said Kambosos. “Just hope, for the fans and for the love of the sport, that we give a good fight. We give an action fight, not a fight where there’s a lot of holding. I’m not going to take it away from Devin, a fantastic win, but hope the referee this time does justice for the fight.”

The fight will surely be an amazing showdown of skillset, talent and experience. Both the fighters know each other very well and it will depend on who will push his limits on the fight night.
