Francis Ngannou had an apt reply to Tyson Fury‘s weight in comments in the aftermath of the fight. At the weigh-ins, Tyson Fury likened Ngannou’s chances against him to that of a Table Tennis champion playing Tennis against Novak Djokovic in Wimbledon. Djokovic is the record holder for most Grand Slam titles in the men’s singles division. Djokovic also had a dominant outing in 2023 winning multiple titles.
Ngannou had a dominant performance against Fury in the bout billed as the “Battle of the Baddest.” He even knocked down the lineal heavyweight champion with a counter left hook in the third round. However, in the end, Fury prevailed via split decision. Ngannou took it to X, formerly Twitter, to troll Fury for his comments at the final face-offs. This is what he tweeted on X:
Table Tennis champion of the world ☝? #FuryNgannou
The boxing encounter between Fury and Ngannou was far from a Table Tennis champion playing a Tennis champion. It was an extremely close fight, which many thought Ngannou won. Ngannou, in the aftermath of the fight even said that it was difficult to win a boxing bout against an established name via decision. At the event, Ngannou was ably supported by his former UFC colleagues in Israel Adesanya and Kamaru Usman.
The trio of Usman, Adesanya, and Ngannou once ruled their respective divisions in the UFC. They have always held their African ancestry close to their heart and have supported each other. Even though Ngannou was not on good terms with the UFC CEO Dana White; Usman and Adesanya never kept any distance post Ngannou’s controversial departure from the promotion.
Israel Adesanya seconds Francis Ngannou’s humorous tweet trolling Tyson Fury
Francis Ngannou is very close with Israel Adesanya and Kamaru Usman. Interestingly, Adesanya is also cordial with Tyson Fury. However, his loyalty lay first and foremost with his “African Brother,” Francis Ngannou. After Ngannou trolled Fury for the comments he made, Israel Adesanya reposted Ngannou’s tweet with a tweet of his own.
Adesanya’s tweet was an apt one to second Ngannou’s. This is what Israel Adesanya tweeted on X after reposting Francis Ngannou’s post.
Great serve! ?
Israel Adesanya recently lost his UFC middleweight title to Sean Strickland at UFC 293 and is on a hiatus. Ngannou was visibly disappointed when that happened in Australia. Adesanya was one of the very few who predicted an upset victory for Ngannou. He even bet a lot of money on Ngannou winning.
