The big crossover fight in Riyadh between Tyson Fury and Francis Ngannou excited the fans. The former UFC heavyweight will make his first professional boxing debut against the WBC heavyweight champion. Subsequently, the pre-fight rituals have started with heated comments being thrown back and forth.
In a recent interview with Joe Rogan, Ngannou made the bold accusation that Fury cheated inside the ring. Ngannou stated that Fury was a talented boxer, but there have been complaints about his gloves in the past. Furthermore, Ngannou said, “He’s very tricky with his glove. I think he is cheating. I’ve heard a lot of complaints about his gloves, that his gloves have no protection”. Ngannou also spoke about the face-to-face press conference when he appeared to mock Fury for his belly.
Ngannou mentioned that he did not mock Fury for his body and was aware of his skills and experience. Subsequently, Ngannou does not wish to underestimate Fury the way Fury’s prior opponents did. Francis Ngannou maintained that he was not taking Fury lightly because of his body, and he identified that Fury remained a threat inside the ring. Ngannou was known as one of the hardest punchers in the UFC, and his power is still his main weapon.
In addition, he has recruited Mike Tyson, the former heavyweight champion, to polish his skills. However, many people doubt whether Ngannou can beat Fury, who many consider one of the greatest heavyweights of the modern era.
Francis Ngannou and Jon Jones could have a potential fight
Before Ngannou left the UFC, there were rumors about him facing former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones. Jones had not fought for over three years and was going to return to the UFC, but Ngannou had left by then.
Hence, this matchup between the infamous heavyweight ‘Bones” and the hard-hitting heavyweight “The Predator” never materialized. However, Ngannou mentioned in his interview with Rogan that the PFL would be interested in making the fight happen. Furthermore, Ngannou indicated that it would be a viable option if the UFC were to partner with the PFL. Rogan and Ngannou then began discussing the potential match and what kind of belts would be there.
Subsequently, Ngannou stated that winning the UFC heavyweight belt would be problematic. Hence, Ngannou believes that if the fight were to happen, it would have a separate belt. However, the UFC might not co-promote with other promotions unless they can make enormous money.
