The world of boxing is abuzz with the latest dust-up between two of the sport’s most talented young fighters. What began as a rivalry between two boxers has now escalated into a full-blown war of words. Furthermore, Devin Haney’s father has also been a part of this feud, and Gervonta Davis has even targeted his words towards Bill Haney.
Similarly, Bill has also always fired back at Davis and has tried to potentially stir up a megafight. However, Bill is now receiving backlash after controversially calling Davis a little monkey.
Devin and Bill recently visited a zoo with their family and were seen interacting and feeding several animals. During this visit, Bill uploaded an Instagram story of him calling a chimpanzee with Gervonta Davis’ new Muslim name, Abdul Wahid. Bill’s remarks received significant backlash, but he again proceeded to demean Davis, stating he wasn’t a big ape but rather a little monkey.
While Bill may see the comment as an attempt to stir up a fight, it could also be interpreted as extremely hurtful and inflammatory. Furthermore, Bill asking the chimpanzee to hear him could have referred to how he had been trying to negotiate a fight.
The tension between Davis and Haney has been building up for quite some time now. Both fighters have been taking shots at each other in interviews and on social media, trying to get under each other’s skin. Furthermore, Haney and Davis had even had a back-and-forth after Haney blatantly called out Davis.
Fans react to Bill Haney’s remarks
Haney has become the WBC super-lightweight champion and appears to be awaiting his next big fight. Subsequently, after his successful debut in the 140-pound division, Haney is now enjoying his leisure time. Subsequently, the boxing world has been buzzing with the brewing tension between two rising stars, Davis and Haney.
Furthermore, Bill’s recent controversial video of him calling a chimpanzee by Davis’s Muslim name further fueled their feud. Bill again proceeded to call Davis a monkey, but this time by reposting Davis’ tweet. Fans reacted to this recent scuffle by stating, “For Bill and Devin Haney to be Muslims, they surely don’t behave like one.”
Furthermore, fans stated that Bill does not behave like a Muslim, and this was seen when he called a monkey by Davis’ Muslim name. Subsequently, fans stated that the Haney’s are trying to promote their fight with Ryan Garcia by using Davis’ name.
