Saudi Arabia has become one of the world’s most aggressive financiers of major sporting events. Since October, Saudi Arabia’s capital city of Riyadh has witnessed some of boxing’s biggest fights. Furthermore, His Excellency Turki Alalshikh expressed his desire to make big fights happen in Saudi Arabia. Subsequently, he mentioned his intent to make Gervonta Davis and Devin Haney fight in Riyadh. However, it appears that Davis doesn’t relish the idea of fighting in the Middle East.

The Saudi Arabian takeover of boxing has constantly moved forward with matchups like Francis Ngannou vs. Tyson Fury. Furthermore, this has been continuing with other matchups like Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua vs. Ngannou. Hence, Saudi Arabia wishes to bring the top boxers, not just from the heavyweight division and has diverted their attention to Davis and Haney. Subsequently, this is how Davis responded:

They made me mad, if they want me they gotta send me something to my front door..like 2 Ferraris or sum!

A fan brought up how Saudi Arabia will require the best boxers in the world if they want to take over boxing. Subsequently, the fan mentioned Davis and Canelo Alvarez, and Davis responded to this tweet.

As such, Davis stated that Saudi Arabian officials need to incentivize him. While Davis did not specify what Alashikh and the Saudi Arabian government had done to irritate him, it was clear that he never intended to travel to Saudi Arabia to box.

Gervonta Davis throws shade at Devin Haney

Haney and Davis have engaged in talks for a potential fight for several years now. Furthermore, they used to spar with each other, and their clips from training kept emerging on the internet. Subsequently, this further led to a debate over which boxer was the better one among them.

Haney even moved to the 140-pound division after winning all the lightweight titles except the one Davis held. In addition, Haney claimed that he had achieved everything he had to in the division. Haney also asserted that Davis avoided and ducked their fight, but Davis had the opposite opinion. Check out the post below to see what ‘Tank’ said about Haney.

Hence, Davis claimed Haney cherry-picked his opponents and didn’t make big fights happen. Furthermore, Davis claimed that Haney talked a lot about fighting but didn’t do what was required. Only time will tell if the two ever square off.
