Gervonta Davis, who grew up in West Baltimore, has a long history of philanthropy. Davis decided to give a much-needed facelift to the neighborhood he grew up in. Growing up in a neighborhood plagued by poverty and crime, Davis knows firsthand the struggles faced by the residents of his childhood block.
Determined to make a difference, he used his success and influence to give back to the community that shaped him. Davis’ coach, Kenny Ellis, posted a video of Baltimore City Councilman Nick Mosby standing beside the boxer. Subsequently, the councilman handed over a certificate of acknowledgment to Gervonta Davis, and both shook hands and hugged. In addition, Ellis posted the video stating:
