When Gervonta Davis announced his conversion to Islam earlier this month, many people were surprised. Khamzat Chimaev, for one, was among those who were delighted to hear about Davis’ conversion, expressing his congratulations on social media.

However, his recent announcement of his conversion to Islam has brought attention to his personal life. Gervonta Davis revealed his new religious affiliation through a social media post, expressing his gratitude for finding peace and purpose in Islam. Furthermore, he spoke about how faith has positively impacted his life and plans to incorporate its teachings into his boxing career. Subsequently, Chimaev also acknowledged Davis’ conversion by uploading his picture.

In addition, Davis has also revealed his Muslim name, which he received at Masjid Hidayah from Imam Hasan Somali. Furthermore, it was disclosed that his Muslim name is Abdul Wahid, which means ‘servant of the one.’ The name symbolizes the Muslim belief in one true god and being the servant of him.

Similarly, Chimaev acknowledged Davis’s conversion by writing his Muslim name ‘Abdul Wahid’ on the social media post with ‘Alhamdulillah’. Subsequently, the phrase ‘alhamdulillah’ that Chimaev wrote in his post translates to ‘all glory to God.’
