Boxer Gervonta Davis fighting Devin Haney is a storyline for the ages. Both boxers have called each other out on multiple occasions. Haney even recently snarked at the 29-0 boxer, accusing him of being afraid of a face-off. Now, Bill Haney has chimed in from his corner, accusing Davis of turning down offers for a fight.

Haney blamed Gervonta Davis for being remiss of a $20 Million fight purse to square off with Haney. “Tank” has however refuted such claims with dry witticism. He has even nudged in to get in touch with manager Al Haymon to confirm the same. Speaking in a recent Instagram story, here’s what Devin Haney’s father had to say to Davis:

I’m talking to you, the ex-face of boxing. This is the Devin Haney era...Bro, you turned down $20 million guaranteed. $20 million, bro. Are you serious, bro?

Many fans have cast their shadow of doubt on this though. They believe this follows suit of boxer Subriel Matias‘s imprudent claims. The IBF light welterweight had made claims of a “supposed” $4 Million fight purse that did not see fruition. Now, with Haney’s recent performance, the $20 Million offer seems doubtful.

He made 50K in PPV buy-ins against Regis Prograis, even though he bagged a two-division champion feat. The common consensus therefore lies that no corner would bleed in $20 Million after turning in a meagre profit. Consequently, Davis himself has also fired back at the proposition.

Gervonta Davis snaps back at Devin Haney’s corner for ducking allegations

Gervonta Davis and Devin Haney have been engaged in a war of words for a while now. They have made many subsequent callouts to each other. Speaking on “the Dream” and his corner, his father Bill Haney recently blamed Davis for ducking a $20 Million fight. Presently though, “Tank” has deliberated on the matter at length.

Many fans have considered these as mere smoke and mirrors tactics to bait out Davis. The latter has resonated on it similarly as well. Taking to Instagram himself, check out what Davis had to say on the father-son duo and Eddie Hearn.

These n****a is p***y. If they wanna make the fight happen, tell them they know who to call. They’re broke…You see, Eddie [Hearn] has been in my DMs. No, I want your boss. If they want to make the fight happen, they know who to call, and I’m by the phone. All of them.

Adding further doubt to these claims, according to Michael Benson, Haney rehydrated from 140 to 165lbs in his last fight. The California Commission had reported the same. At 135lbs, “Tank” is a former super-lightweight, now boxing as a lightweight. With Haney’s last fight underperforming and him deviating vigorously at middleweight levels, fans are not sure the offer is even true. Haney’s recent rehydration clausal feats have already raised some brows.
