Dillian Whyte‘s reputation suffers a major blow as news of his failed VADA test surfaces, leading to the cancellation of his highly-anticipated rematch with Anthony Joshua at the O2 Arena on August 12. This is not the first time Whyte has faced doping allegations, as he had previously encountered anti-doping test inconsistencies in 2012, resulting in a suspension, and again before his bout with Oscar Rivas in 2019.

Fans and experts are now expressing their disappointment and lack of support for Whyte due to these recurring doping incidents. Michael Hunter, a fellow heavyweight contender, voiced his concerns in a recent interview with Boxing UK, stating that it reflects poorly on Whyte and is a significant detriment to the sport of boxing as a whole.

He said, “Three strikes and you’re out! We’ve crucified certain fighters for popping one time and Dillian should be no different.I don’t know what the situation is, but to pop three times and then try and paint the narrative as they do is bad for boxing as a whole….I think it is a really bad look on Dillian. I know he’ll try and fix it – that’s one thing he does good at, fighting those VADA and UKAD battles.”

The situation has generated controversy, with Hunter advocating for severe consequences for Whyte’s repeated violations. The reputation of the once-promising rematch with Anthony Joshua is now tainted, leaving a permanent impact on the fans who have supported Whyte throughout his boxing career.

The surprising news that Dillian Whyte’s rematch with Anthony Joshua had to be canceled due to a negative result in his doping test has prompted the fighter to speak out.

A statement from Matchroom said that Whyte’s voluntary anti-doping test had come back positive, and the fight would not go on exactly one week before the scheduled fight.

However, the former heavyweight title Contender wasn’t happy with the decision and said: “I am shocked and devastated to learn of a report by VADA of adverse findings relating to me. Only learned of it this morning and am still reacting to it. I have also just seen that the fight is being canceled without having any chance to demonstrate my innocence before the decision was taken…..I can confirm without a shadow of a doubt that I have not taken the reported substance, in this camp or at any point in my life. I am completely innocent.”

Anthony Joshua was eagerly waiting for the fight to happen but he hasn’t given his official statement after the fight got canceled. It seems like the fighter is just disappointed with how things have turned out.
