“Onto the next one “- Jake Paul declares he was ready to fight at 205lbs against ‘con artist’ Hasim Rahman Jr

Hasim Rahman Jr and Jake Paul

Jake Paul was ready to make his much-anticipated boxing comeback on August 6 inside the Madison Square Garden against Hasim Rahman Jr. After Tommy Fury failed to be a part of the event, Rahman stepped in to fill the shoes of the Brit.

Everything was going smoothly until suddenly the fight was called off as Rahman failed to make the weight. Jake Paul was furious on Hasim for the unprofessionalism he showed. His mother Pam Stepnick also took a dig on the fighter. Recently, popular reporter Dan Rafael made a tweet regarding a statement made by Rahman’s promoter Greg Cohen.

“According to Rahman’s promoter Greg Cohen, the NY commission changed the weight to 204 because Rahman was having trouble getting down to contract limit of 200 & Jake was willing to up it to 205 but Rahman currently 214/struggling. So #PaulRahmanJr event is off. #boxing,” wrote Rafael.

After Rafael made that tweet, Paul took the opportunity to share the tweet and revealed what went down between him and Rahman Jr.

Paul explained that Rahman’s promoter called the media and told them Rahman will not be able to make the required weight. Paul also mentioned that he was even open to move up and fight at 205 lbs which is way more than his desired weight class. In the end, Paul called Rahman Jr and his team cheaters and announced is now focusing on the next opponet. He wrote :

Boxing…His own promoter called reporters on Saturday telling them he can’t make the weight. You can spin it all you want, I was ready to go to 205…15 pounds more than where I’m comfortable. These guys are con artists. On to the next one.”

By the looks of it, Paul, out of desperation, was ready to move up in order to save the event, however, things didn’t really work out. Many fight fans were disappointed by it as the hype around the fight was massive. Now it will be interesting to see who Paul will fight next in upcoming months.
