“In 3 years”- Jake Paul highlights his journey of becoming the light heavyweight champion
Artur Beterbiev, Joe Smith Jr and Jake Paul
Like many boxing enthusiasts, Jake Paul keeps an eye on what’s going on in the world of the sport. He used Joe Smith Jr.’s defeat to fight back at his critics and made a big prediction in his most recent tweet.
The tweet was sent following Top Rank boxing’s Artur Beterbiev vs. Joe Smith Jr in the Light Heavyweight category. The battle took place at New York’s Madison Square Garden Theater. The Russian-born fighter challenged Smith Jr.’s WBO title with his IBF and WBC Light Heavyweight titles.
Jake Paul tweeted, saying, “Lololololol y’all don’t think I can become world champion but look at how Joe Smith Jr. is fighting. In 3 years I will become the light heavyweight champion of the world.”
Beterbiev dropped Smith once in the opening round. The American was thrown to the ground twice in the second battle round, causing the referee to step in and stop mid-way. Beterbiev maintained his flawless knockout record, now having won 18 straight fights. This loss goes into Smith’s record as his second loss, his previous being against Eddie Caminero in 2010.
