“Hopefully he wins in a violent way”- Jake Paul opens up about the chances of a Tommy Fury fight in the near future
Jake Paul- Tommy Fury
Youtuber-cum-boxer Jake Paul has been way past his formerly booked opponent Tommy Fury in terms of giving him another chance to not back out and come out during the fight day but seems like Paul is open to changing his mind under certain circumstances. Paul, an undefeated boxer and so far, a successful promoter of the sport has recently made waves when he signed another fighter through his promotional agency Most Valuable Promotions- MVP.
Paul has signed 18-year old fastest rising boxing prodigy Ashton Sylve, who made his pro-debut at the age of 16, has won all of his 6 fights via knockout and is yet to even graduate from high school! This is the second time Paul has surprised his doubters with his negotiating capabilities alongside his manager Nakisa Bidarian. The first fighter signed with Paul’s promotion is women’s boxing great Amanda Serrano, who’s now going to headline a boxing event at Madison Square Garden which is going to be the first female main event in MSG’s history.
Jake Paul says deal with Tommy Fury is ‘not good business’ due to lack of promotor’s skills
After talking about Sylve’s signing with MVP to ESPN correspondent Marc Raimondi, Paul talked about his potential opponents for his next fight and definitely, Tommy Fury’s name comes on the table as well. Fury and Paul were originally supposed to fight back in December 2021 when Fury had to finally pull out of the fight during the fight week due to a rib injury. Paul then faced former UFC welterweight champion, Tyron Woodley, in a rematch as a late replacement, whom the former knocked out in the sixth round.
“Hopefully he does something that is exciting, you know,” says Paul whilst speaking of Fury “Hopefully he wins in a violent way and knocks someone out because all of his fights are a snoozefest… as of now he is not good at promoting fights, you know, no one really even knows about the fight [Fury vs Daniel Bocianski on April 23, 2022, in Wembley Stadium] other than me talking about it. So he’s terrible at promoting and because of that it’s just not good business…” continues Paul.
What do you make of Paul’s conditions under which he would consider booking Fury to fight again? Who do you think would win the fight if it ever happens? As Fury has a fight later this month, who do you think wins between him and his opponent? Since Paul is known for promoting his fights from his influence as a Youtuber, do you think any sole combat sports megastar would be able to imitate what Paul does by influencing their own fanbase?
