Jake Paul has finally been given the props for finally picking a professional boxer as his opponent. The YouTube sensation is fighting Hasim Rahman Jr for his next fight and his brother Logan Paul wasn’t necessarily excited about his decision to fight a professional boxer on short notice.
Jake Paul has forever been criticized for handpicking his fights and padding a record of 5-0 in his professional boxing career. The fighter has fought a fellow YouTuber, a retired NBA basketball player, and two MMA champions in his boxing career. Despite some amazing performances, a lot of boxing purists believe Jake’s career can truly be assessed only if he faces a professional boxer.
Jake was initially supposed to fight Tommy Fury this year but the British boxer has canceled the fight twice in a row which forced Jake to choose 12-1 boxer Hasim Rahman Jr as his next opponent. In a recent interview with TMZ Sports, Jake talks about his upcoming fight against Hasim at the Madison Square Garden on August 6th.

Jake Paul wants to prove that he can knockout a pro boxer
“He’s a harder opponent than Tommy Fury. He [Hasim] has more amateur fights, has more heavyweight fights. He is a heavyweight. Hes been in boxing his whole entire life,” said Jake in his TMZ Sports interview about his next opponent. Hasim is the son of former heavyweight champion Hasim Rahman who has wins over legends like Lennox Lews.
“He’s older, more experienced than Tommy Fury and has been in a lot bigger fights and has sparred with some of the toughest heavyweights in the world. My manager and even my own brother was like you shouldn’t be doing this because of just the risk isn’t worth the reward,” said Paul about him being warned before agreeing to fight Hasim Jr. However, Jake has only one answer to why he wanted to pick this fight: “I’m just build different.”
“I really want to do this. I want to prove to the world that I can knock out a professional boxer no matter how good he, or she is, or anyone. I’ll knockout anyone!”
