Jake Paul extended his professional record to 9-1 with his victory over Ryan Bourland, but there was bad news waiting for the fans. A few moments after Paul’s brief fight, it was confirmed that Amanda Serrano would not be able to take part in her much-awaited homecoming fight with Nina Meinke on Saturday night. Subsequently, people at the Coliseo Jose Miguel Agrelot Arena were disappointed, but one person was even more heartbroken. After the announcement, Serrano, who was visibly emotional, spoke to the fans and stated that she would be back.
Even Jake Paul came out in support of Serrano, pointing out how much she wanted to fight in front of the people of her homeland. Furthermore, in an episode on his podcast, “The Problem Child” he revealed that he had to give back almost $1,500,000 to the fans.
Paul revealed that he did the refund with no remorse since he donated his entire fighter’s purse after the event. In addition, Paul stated,
This whole thing is not about the money, like, this event like… I’m donating my whole purse and stuff.
As such, Paul revealed that he was worrying more about Serrano’s welfare than the $1.5 million in revenue that he refunded. Paul stated that Serrano dyed her hair, and the lead present in the dye came into contact with her eyes. After experiencing an irritation in her left eye, she got it checked, and the doctor revealed that she couldn’t fight.
The chemical caused her vision to be delayed and blurry, which would affect her effectiveness inside the ring. Hence, everyone felt that it was better to cancel the fight because of the risk of getting blind or sustaining another injury.
Jake Paul and Ryan Garcia exchange heated words
After beating Bourland by TKO in the first round, Paul was immediately targeted by several fighters. This included Ryan Garcia, who sent out an angry tweet saying he would ‘end’ Paul’s career. Furthermore, Garcia urged ‘The Problem Child’ to get in touch with his team for the fight.
Subsequently, the day after his victory, Paul went on his YouTube podcast “BS w/ Jake Paul” to confront “King Ryan” in a FaceTime chat. During the call, both fighters stated that they would beat one another. In addition, Paul told Garcia that he was losing it, which referred to Garcia’s recent viral social media posts.
Paul also dismissed Garcia’s challenge since the latter is a lightweight boxer and their weight divisions are completely different. Furthermore, Paul also confidently claimed that he would knock out the 25-year-old the same way Gervonta Davis did.
