“A really tough test’- Jake Paul wants to ‘test his limits’

Jake Paul believes the Hasim Rahman Jr fight will be a good chance to show the fans what he is capable of. After defeating Tyron Woodley by KO last year in December, Paul will make his boxing comeback this August. Initially, he was going to fight Tommy Fury and the fight was going to be at Madison Square Garden. Everything was going smoothly until Fury was stopped at the Heathrow airport from boarding to the US.

Later, the fight was called off and Paul announced that Hasim Rahman Jr will substitute Fury on the same card.

Paul recently sat down with Chris Mannix from The Volume Sports for a virtual interview. During the conversation, the pair talked about Paul taking a huge risk by fighting Rahman Jr who is a better boxer, bigger and more experienced.

While talking about this upcoming fight, Paul revealed that he is doing this for the fans who are expecting a good show from him. Other than that, Paul explained by fighting Rahman Jr he wants to put himself to the test to see his capabilities. The fighter clarified that after fighting a professional boxer he will be able to move on to other MMA legends like Anderson Silva in future. He said :

” Yeah, that’s part of it and just the responsibility to my fans to put on events and proving to myself what I’m capable of. I wanna test my own limits, I wanna see just how good I’m and check fighting a professional boxer off the list. And after this, I’ll be able to fight the Anderson Silva’s, the Nate Diaz’s but I didn’t want to just to keep on fighting MMA fighters and people being like, Oh, well they’re not actual boxers. This is a really tough test. He (Hasim Rahman Jr.) has a huge amateur career. He has a good professional career and we’re gonna see what I’m made of. “

It’s clearly a good opportunity for Paul to shut down all the haters who criticize him for having a padded record and not fighting true boxers. Rahman Jr has a reach and size advantage which will put Paul’s boxing skills to the test. For the fight fans, it will definitely be an interesting fight to see.
