Katie Taylor won a hard-fought decision against Amanda Serrano to win the biggest fight in women’s boxing at the iconic ‘Theatre of Dreams‘ Madison Square Garden. The Irish Superstar keeps her undefeated title and raises her record to 21-0.
The bout was razor close throughout with many doubtful of the way the scorecards would lean. After the official announcement, Taylor had reigned supreme in the fight for the Undisputed Women’s Lightweight Championship.
The reactions after the decision was announced were mixed, with Jake Paul firmly believing his client, Amanda Serrano should have been favored on the scorecards. Matchroom Boxing CEO, Eddie Hearn differed from Paul’s opinion, he thought the fight was very close but Katie being the champion won the fight on his scorecards. The two remarkably bet $1 million in each on their fighters, certainly, Hearn is happier than Paul could be currently

In the fight, Taylor suffered a massive knockdown after which Serrano attempted to keep up with the blitz. Katie Taylor however maintained her composure and made it back to the stools. The fight was pretty even after the massive round 5 for Amanda Serrano. The champion gained back her pace in the later rounds. Round 10 saw Katie put in a massive effort and put Serrano on her back foot, at which we succeeded.
A universal view shared by everyone was that the bout was one of the most memorable scraps in Women’s Boxing. Both parties agreed that there should be a rematch between the two. In the post-fight interview between the promoters, when asked about the rematch, Eddie Hearn said, “Katie is the biggest thing to come out of Ireland and it would be a shame if we didn’t go back to Ireland before her career is over.“
Paul seemed to concur when asked if his client would go to Ireland saying, “A 100%, you know she’s a true Champion.” Paul also expressed his belief that he thought the fight was a draw at best, with Serrano having done enough in the fourth and fifth to win on the scorecards.
Serrano who suffered only her second loss in boxing, was in high spirits having managed to fulfill the event for “all women” She said, “The fans wanted the fight, I came up two divisions to fight for the undisputed belt, whos is the true warrior?” Serrano also expressed her interest and willingness for a rematch in Ireland,
