Last week, WBN (World Boxing News) revealed the interest of Showtime and RIZIN in staging an exhibition bout this December. As of late, Manny Pacquiao reaffirmed indicated a possible rematch with Floyd Mayweather. The boxing legend advised fans to be wary of a return bout soon. According to a Filipino media press release, a conference was set to take place for Pacquiao vs. Mayweather II.

The RIZIN event is scheduled to happen on New Year’s Eve. However, late interest from Showtime saw the scrapping of the media event. This event in Tokyo was Showtime’s exit from the boxing spectrum after 37 years. However, there is now renewed interest in hosting Mayweather vs. Pacquiao 2 as per the latest publicized broadcast. The estimated date locked is December 9. Mikey Garcia stands in as a backup fighter if Pacquiao cannot compete. As reported (h/t Filipino media station ANC 24/7),  Pacquiao said:

In the grand farewell event for Showtime, Garcia was to fight Mayweather. However, Pacquiao is the fan-preferred choice. The last time they fought in 2015, Mayweather defeated Pacquiao via decision. The boxing bout generated over 4.7 million pay-per-view buys. It was widely one of the biggest boxing events in recent history.

For years at an end, there was no viable update of a possible rematch. A rematch with Mayweather will likely feature an exhibition bout rather than a professional bout. Pacquiao also aims to compete in the Olympic Games representing his nation. Now, the “Pac-Man” hopes to aim for gold despite turning 45 at the end of the year.

The boxing bout between Francis Ngannou and Tyson Fury took place in Riyadh on Oct. 28. The fight was a 10-round boxing stipulation exhibition match. Fury’s spot as the WBC heavyweight was not on the line. The event saw the appearance of an array of celebrities, both MMA fighters and non-fighters alike. One of them was Manny Pacquiao.

With the promotion of the matchup, the Kingdom of Saud Arabia went all out. Special invites went out to fighters of many combative sports. Pacquiao was one, which he talked about on social media. The Irishman Conor McGregor had got a similar invite. Similarly, he took to X (formerly Twitter) to post a note about being graced by such an invitation. Additionally, Cristiano Ronaldo was the promotional ambassador of the sporting event.

But that is not where the buck stopped. Frank Mir, Teddy Atlas, Chuck Liddell, Israel Adesanya, and Oscar De La Hoya were among those who attended. Celebrities like Becky G, Kanye West,  Rio FerdinandLuis Figo, and Brazil’s legend Ronaldo were also present.
