Saudi Arabia continues to uplift the sport of boxing by bringing interesting matchups to reality. Furthermore, the fans have been getting their dream fights one after the other, which has never happened in the sport. The Saudi Arabian Chairman of the General Authority for Entertainment, Turki Alalshikh, has now rattled the boxing world with another shocking matchup. Alalshikh has issued an open challenge between Lionel Messi and Naoya Inoue.
Messi is the global tourism ambassador to Saudi Arabia and has visited the country recently. Furthermore, he caught up with the ambitious Alalshikh, who continues to expand his fan base in the combat sports world. Messi is well known for his prowess in the football world, but Alekshikh appears to want to see him inside a boxing ring. Furthermore, Alalshikh shared a photo of himself with Messi while holding a championship belt on his shoulder and challenged the famous Japanese boxer, Naoya Inoue. As such, Alalshikh stated, “We challenge you, Naoya Inoue.”
Alalshikh’s challenge may be a subtle invitation for the four-time WBC world champion, Inoue, to visit the Kingdom. In addition, Inoue has fought his last five bouts in his home country, Japan, and thus, might agree to fight in the Middle East.
Furthermore, he may be able to tap into the growing fan base in Saudi Arabia. Subsequently, Alalshikh’s post was a satirical challenge since Messi would not be able to fend for himself against the undisputed champion. Similarly, if Inoue were to face Messi in a 1v1 football game, he would be left in the dust.
Ryan Garcia talks about fighting Naoya Inoue
Amidst the growing doubt about his next opponent, Ryan Garcia already has his mind set on a potential opponent for his next fight. The American boxing star is having trouble finding an opponent, even though he is one of the most popular boxers in the sport. Subsequently, Garcia has challenged Devin Haney and Rolando Romero, as well as the likes of Isaac Cruz.
However, now he has his sights set on a new opponent, the Japanese boxing star Inoue. Garcia stated in an interview with ESNEWS that he wants to fight on the home ground of Inoue. Subsequently, he feels that the Japanese champion has the potential to become a multi-weight champion.
Hence, Garcia believes that Inoue can step up to 140 pounds and face him in a squared circle. In addition, the former claimed that it would be the biggest boxing PPV event in history. Garcia ardently feels that the bout could potentially happen in the future.
