Claressa Shields‘ success in the ring has made her so self-assured that she believes she can beat most of her male opponents. As such, Shields has also been seeking a fight with professional boxer Keith Thurman, and Shields is confident that she’ll win. However, recently leaked controversial sparring footage showed that Shields got knocked out by male boxer, Arturs Ahmetovs.  

Furthermore, after Ahmentovs uploaded the five-year-old clip from their sparring session, it went viral on Instagram. At the beginning of the video, Shields is shown talking about Ahmetovs and how he didn’t have padding in his gloves during the second sparring session.

After which, the video features a clip of their sparring where Claressa Shields was dropped. In the caption, Ahmetovs stated:

Fans were mainly drawn towards the clip because Shields claims boldly that she can easily defeat male boxers inside the ring. Moreover, Shields has stated that Ahmetovs had little to no padding in his gloves during the sparring session. In addition, Ahmetovs and his coach, Derrick Santos, also commented on the post and spoke about Shields.

Furthermore, Santos stated that Shields had asked for the sparring session, and after getting dropped, she accused them of cheating. However, Santos stated that Shield’s coach had inspected the gloves after the session.

Subsequently, Santos revealed that Ahmetovs was asked not to hit her too hard, but after Shields started trash-talking, Ahmetovs hit her hard.

Claressa Shields responds to the video of the sparring session

Ahmetovs is a Latvian professional boxer with a 6-1 record and two victories via KO. He had a sparring session with the GWOAT Shields back in 2018, but the footage from the session has been recently posted. Furthermore, Ahmentovs uploaded the clip after Shields accused him of using foul play during their sparring session.

Subsequently, the clip of Shields getting dropped has gone viral, and Shields has given an extensive response to it. Shields stated that she has never been knocked out in 17 years, even though she spars mostly male boxers. She then proceeded to accuse Ahmentovs and his coach of tampering with the padding of the gloves. Furthermore, Shields stated:

In addition, Shields stated that during their first sparring session, she embarrassed Ahmentovs inside the ring. Hence, Shields believes that this made them tamper with the gloves during their second sparring session, which caused her to get knocked out.
