Manny Pacquiao SHOCKINGLY promises Floyd Mayweather fight in RIZIN for 2024 blockbuster fight

Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao have a rivalry that still burns strong. The boxing icons and their face-off is one of the most exhilarating events in boxing history. Pacquiao recently announced that he has agreed to a rematch with the 50-0 Mayweather in an exhibition in 2024. Visiting the extended Riyadh Boxing Season, Conor McGregor had primarily called for a boxing bout after a delay in UFC return, but in vain.

Mayweather too fought Conor McGregor in an exhibition boxing match in 2017. The pro boxer retired the same year. The boxer is undefeated. Hence, accordingly, his fight against boxing’s only eight-division champion was a hyped one. The rematch would be under MMA promotion Rizin Fighting Federation. Here’s what Pacquiao divulged in his recent announcement, along with RIZIN CEO Nobuyuki Sakakibara:

Thank you so much for inviting me here again...I’m sorry for the last time that we promised we were going to fight this year, but like Sakakibara explained, this year I will see you here in Japan again...Big Fight! Against THE 'Floyd Mayweather'...I’m excited for that. Thank you for all the support in Rizin, and thank you Sakakibara.

“The Pac Man” is a veteran, winning seven world titles in seven different weight divisions in November 2009. He was the only boxer to ever do so seemingly. Mayweather put his WBA and WBC titles on the line against Pacquiao’s WBO gold at the MGM Grand on May 2, 2015. The fight was billed as “The Fight of The Century.” Check out his latest announcement, below.

Mayweather, however, bagged a unanimous decision victory (scoring 116-112, twice, 118-110). The performance later came under fire, clashing with boxing’s PED issues. SB Nation’s Thomas Hauser reported on an illegal IV before the fight to help with dehydration, with unclear subsequent findings. Only time would tell what the discourse of another rematch would be like.

Manny Pacquiao faces kickboxer Buakaw Banchamek in Thailand

Manny Pacquiao recently disclosed a rematch with Floyd Mayweather in the works, in one of his recent appearances for RIZIN. Mayweather himself has fought twice under the RIZIN banner in his post-retirement exhibition career.

Pacquiao and Mayweather had been in talks for an epic rematch showdown, for a while now. When they last faced off, Mayweather had taken the victory home. But now, the boxing veteran officially faces Muay Thai fighter and kickboxer Buakaw Banchamek on April 20th.

Throughout the year, “The Pac Man” had hinted at being “still active.” In an interview with Fight Hub, the boxer had talked about an exhibition match against the 50-0 legend in December, but that never came to pass. Now though, Pacquiao let off that it is finally happening somewhere around 2024, probably succeeding the matchup with Banchamek.

Considering that many fans also wanted a Conor McGregor vs. Pacquiao fight, this fight may seem a little off-putting. Consequently “The Notorious” himself recently wished upon it as well. Mayweather and McGregor have been the biggest expectant opponents for the veteran. But the wild card Banchamek also is a seemingly interesting prospective fight.
