Ahead of boxing return in April, legendary Manny Pacquiao wants to fight Conor McGregor in Saudi Arabia before ending illustrious career

Manny Pacquiao is widely regarded as one of the greatest boxers in history. Although “Pacman” announced his retirement from professional boxing in 2021, he has continued to compete in exhibition bouts ever since. According to a recent report by ‘Boxing Scene,’ Pacquiao will likely return to professional boxing at the age of 45. Subsequently, the report also stated that Pacquiao may fight against the well-known UFC fighter Conor McGregor. 

As mentioned above, Pacquiao is retired from professional competition but frequently participates in exhibition fights, just like Floyd Mayweather. Furthermore, Pacquiao is set to fight the Thai kickboxer Buakaw Banchamek on April 20, 2024. Subsequently, Pacquiao promoter Sean Gibbons spoke about the fight and shed light on future potential bouts. As such, Gibbons stated: 

Manny Pacquiao versus Conor McGregor. That's something that will be sensational in Saudi Arabia, let's go. It will be a good place to do it.

McGregor and Pacquiao had teased matchups before, but it never materialized. In response, McGregor’s promotional company, Paradigm Sports, sued Pacquiao for not going through with the fight. Subsequently, McGregor’s legal team won the case and was awarded more than $5 million from the lawsuit.

In addition, it appears that Pacquiao is ready to come back into boxing after his time as a politician in the Philippines. Hence, the fight between Conor McGregor and Pacquiao might finally happen since it is a massive fight, and Saudi Arabia wants to make the fight. However, the UFC must sign off on McGregor’s participation. 

Ryan Garcia and Gervonta Davis are on Manny Pacquiao’s radar

Pacquiao has suddenly resurfaced in the boxing world after his hiatus as a politician. Furthermore, Pacquiao is linked to several potential bouts with the likes of McGregor and Mayweather. However, these are not the only stars that Pacquiao aims to fight. The legendary boxer also aims to fight Ryan Garcia or Gervonta Davis.

Pacquiao’s highly anticipated rematch with Mayweather was announced recently, but nothing has solidified yet. Similarly, Pacquiao has only expressed his intent to fight McGregor and restart negotiations for a fight. Furthermore, in the last few years, Pacquiao has thought of fighting Garcia and Davis. During his interview with Boxing Scene, Gibbons also revealed Davis and Garcia as potential options. 

In addition, Pacquiao believed that he was the superior and more experienced fighter and believed that he could win against the young boxers. Subsequently, Pacquiao also stated that if Davis moved up to 147 pounds, he might fight him.
