Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield seemingly had a nice reunion earlier this week. The rivalry between ‘Iron Mike’ and ‘The Real Deal’ is among the most heated in boxing history. They were famously expected to box in 1991, but Tyson’s upset loss to James ‘Buster’ Douglas dashed those plans. Five years later, they finally squared off in Las Vegas, and it was a wild affair. Subsequently, Holyfield won by knockout in the 11th round, and it was a sign that their rivalry wasn’t over yet.
Tyson and Holyfield would meet again the following year, and this time the theatrics were even greater than the first. In the first few rounds of the rematch, Mike Tyson was visibly frustrated after being repeatedly hit by his opponent’s headbutts. It was in the third round that Tyson lost control of the fight and bit Holyfield’s ear twice in the fight. However, the two heavyweights have come a long way from that, as Tyson uploaded a photo of them stating:

Hence, 20 years later, the two have reconciled their differences and have become good friends. Further, Tyson posted a photo of himself dining with Holyfield, and the two appeared to be having a good time and enjoying each other’s company.
Subsequently, Holyfield commented on the photo, stating, “I love you, Mike,” which reflects his respect and admiration for his former rival. In addition, Tyson and Holyfield have also entered a business venture called ‘Mike Bites’ which is an edible gummy product.
Fans react to Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield sitting together
Tyson biting Holyfield is one of the most controversial moments of boxing and something that Tyson is infamously known for. In the 2008 documentary Tyson vs. Holyfield, the former WBC heavyweight champion claimed the bite was in response to a series of vicious headbutts by Holyfield.
Hence, their match was arguably the most controversial sporting event of the decade. However, they reconciled their issues and showed their mutual love and respect after the fight. Furthermore, even decades later, they still share that same close bond and often hang out together. Subsequently, fans reacted to this by stating, “Don’t bite him, Mike.”
Fans complimented the two heavyweight legends for their growth and for being able to become such close friends. In addition, fans mentioned how this is a perfect example of how people can settle their differences. Furthermore, several fans made hilarious jokes about Holyfield’s ear because of the original incident.
