Teddy Atlas is a veteran coach and analyst in boxing. He is also the estranged trainer of Mike Tyson. Atlas knows almost everything about boxing due to his decades of experience. He was briefly called upon to train Francis Ngannou for a day. Ngannou faces Tyson Fury in Riyadh on Oct. 28. The bout is for a 10-round boxing stipulation matchup.

A training video has surfaced and uploaded to FightHype.com on YouTube. Atlas advised Ngannou on his hits and stance in the video. This is what Teddy Atlas said about repetitive uppercuts:

Don't stand up! Being tall is nice. Except then you are tall right in front of a guy. Then, it's not so nice. You know why? You are a big building with windows. And some people like to break the windows.

Tyson and Atlas had a disagreement years ago, during which Atlas allegedly pulled a gun on Tyson. This happened because Tyson had allegedly made advances on a relative of Atlas at 15 years of age. Tyson was sternly warned to stay away from them. However, in 2013, Tyson reached out to Atlas in hopes of reconciling. Luckily, they reconciled and maintains an amicable relationship since then. They both now serve as part of Ngannou’s training camp.

Although they did not comprehensively coach together, Atlas attended the training camp to offer his insight. He has also provided a detailed breakdown of Ngannou’s chances in the match. Ngannou could have an advantage with Atlas training him. However, he has a tall task ahead of him against Fury.

Talking to  MMA Junkie after an open workout Wednesday, Ngannou referred to the situation. Ngannou did not feel vindicated or boosted based on the misfortune of Jones or UFC. He understood that injuries remained a part of combat sports and wished Jones a speedy recovery.

In the interview, Ngannou mentioned not having a vested interest in the interim title fight between Sergei Pavlovich and Tom Aspinall. He is currently more focused on his own position in the combat sports landscape. His upcoming match with lineal boxing heavyweight champion Tyson Fury takes place in Riyadh less than 12 hours away.
