Legendary boxer Mike Tyson returns to the ring against Jake Paul on July 20. The announcement took the fighting world by surprise since Tyson hasn’t competed since 2020. However, he retired from professional fighting in 2005 – almost two decades ago. Now, the 57-year-old boxer released a training montage showcasing his preparations for his comeback.

The video started with Mike Tyson slamming a medicine ball to the ground. Soon, the video escalated in pace with ‘Iron’ blasting the pads in a mitt session. He threw his trademark combinations, moving left & right, bobbing & weaving with power & Speed. Despite being well past his prime, Tyson showed extreme athleticism. In the end, he had a word-punch for Jake Paul.

Mike Tyson started his preparations just a couple of days before. As such, he followed it as a routine to post his training videos on social media daily. Every video so far featured the legendary boxer hitting the pads with his trainer. He looked fast and powerful. However, former UFC fighter Chael Sonnen criticized the videos as being fake. Anyway, these were just speculations.

While the fighting world reacted harshly to Jake Paul fighting an older Mike Tyson, the recent training videos have changed their judgment. Even Tyson’s past opponent Lennox Lewis believed ‘Iron’ would knock out Paul. The fight takes place at the AT&T stadium in Texas on July 20 and will be streamed on Netflix.

Joe Rogan reacts to Mike Tyson’s training videos

Mike Tyson, although hasn’t competed in years has still kept himself in shape. Despite being over 50 years old, the legendary boxer looked jacked and fit. His boxing skills too remained etched deep in him. As such, he posted training videos now and then. Once, Joe Rogan reacted to one of the training montages on his JRE podcast. This was before the announcement of Jake Paul vs. Tyson.

Firstly, Rogan addressed Jake Paul wanting to fight Mike Tyson and wondered “Why?” He believed Tyson still could beat anyone. Plus, he considered the fear factor ‘Iron’ induced in his prime boxing days. As such, reacting to the training video, Rogan stated he still had the power and speed. To say the least, the UFC commentator had Tyson in high regard and didn’t even consider age could play a factor.

"Why? (Jake Paul fighting Mike Tyson) I don't give a f**k if he is 55, that's still Mike Tyson. Tyson's smashing the mitts, like Jesus! That guy can still f**k you up...At 55, power is the last thing to go but the thing is the speed is still there. He's fu****g terrifying"

Mike Tyson’s recent training videos also proved Rogan’s deduction of the 57-year-old retaining the speed and power. As such, witnessing the legend’s comeback to the ring would be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Whether the 31-year age difference would be a factor in the bout is to be seen. As such, all questions will be answered on July 20 when Jake Paul and Tyson come face to face.
