The doubts among fans about the upcoming fight between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul have been persisting. Fans have highlighted the unfair age gap and the physical fitness level between the fighters. Many people also believe that the fight might potentially tarnish Tyson’s legacy. However, Iron Mike dismissed this and instead believed that he had a chance against the young boxer.

Age might have diminished Tyson’s incredible stamina and endurance that he had during his prime. However, heavyweight legend George Foreman once stated, at 75 years old, that a boxer’s power is the last thing to go. Hence, the common debate among fans has been about whether or not Tyson’s power will be enough in the fight. This infers that Tyson will not be able to keep up with Paul’s speed. However, Tyson challenged this notion and stated:

During an interview with Fox News, Sean Hannity spoke to Tyson about the highly anticipated fight. As such, Hannity brought up how Paul has an advantage in terms of age, agility, and speed. However, Tyson shot down this notion and stated that he didn’t think the young boxer was faster than him.

This was not just an arrogant, bold proclamation, since Tyson stated that he is training hard every day. Iron Mike also acknowledged the journey that Paul has gone through and the threat he poses. However, Tyson stated that he is used to people trying to hurt him and will be ready on July 20.

Mike Tyson addresses rumors about the fight

Concerns are not the only thing that have been brought up by fans, because the fight has even caused several rumors to circulate. This included rumors about them using 18-ounce gloves and headgear to protect both fighters. Subsequently, the former champion personally cleared out any misconceptions in his interview with Fox News.

Tyson also dismissed the rumors about them using 18-ounce gloves or headgear. This means that they will fight with 10–12-ounce gloves and no headgear.

Mike Tyson also revealed that he is going through a proper training camp for this fight, regardless of his age. This includes going for a run in the morning and putting in intense work at the gym. Hence, the former champion stated how serious this fight was for him and his intention to win.
