46-year-old retired fighter Floyd Mayweather’s recent brawl with John Gotti III was one of the most talked about controversies in boxing. As Floyd takes up exhibition bouts against YouTubers and influencers despite his retirement, this time, it is the grandson of Gambino crime family member John Gotti. Both fighters were engaged in a scuffle following the referee’s call to stop the fight. Both teams stepped into the ring and the event was tarnished.

However, not all things that came out of this event were bad. Following the chaos, Floyd Mayweather was awarded the ‘Juneteenth’ belt for Black History Month. Outside the venue, CEO Jas Mathur from Limitless X presented the 46-year-old fighter with the belt, which was captured on video by TMZ.

And one thing about Jas, from Limitless, he’s always giving back. And, I didn’t do it by myself, he’s my business partner and this belt right here is his,” said ‘Money’ as he exchanged the WBC Juneteenth belt.

In 2019, fashion enterprise Gucci released a sweater that resembled Blackface. The tradition that was followed by minstrel shows in the early 1900s spread a racial stereotype. As the entire world was enraged at the outrageous sweater, one man remained calm. The man in question was Floyd Mayweather. As an African American boxer, ‘Money’ disagreed with the boycott. As captured by TMZ, the fighter went on to shop at Gucci following the question asked.

My thing is this, we all know racism still exists. But, that’s not gonna stop my drive. I got friends from all walks of life. And, to me, of course, Black lives matter, first. But my thing is this, I’m gonna continue to go out there, live life and be happy. And, be positive. I wear what I wanna wear when I want to, and how I want to,” said Floyd Mayweather as he found no issues with the matter.

Floyd Mayweather strongly disagreed with the outrage in 2019. The fighter had also spoken on racism in his previous interviews and the ways to overcome the issue. The 46-year-old fighter is now in possession of the ‘Juneteenth’ belt for Black History Month.
