“Levels of unfair scrutiny”- MTK Global releases statement after ceasing operations due to connections Kinahan crime cartel

MTK Global, a prominent fighting firm decided to cease all operations related to boxing promotions after the agency’s co-founder Daniel Joseph Kinahan was branded as an international criminal.

Daniel Kinahan is the co-founder of MTK Global and is being wanted by the U.S. Treasury Department for alleged involvement in smuggling, money laundering, and murder. The global firm will be closing its operations and releasing a statement regarding the issue.

In their statement they wrote, “As a business we have faced unprecedented levels of unfair scrutiny and criticism since the sanctioning by the US Government of Daniel Joseph Kinahan.” MTK was established in 2012 and has grown to be one of the biggest promotions in the world of boxing.

“It is a matter of public record that Mr. Kinahan’s involvement in MTK ceased in 2017, and despite repeated reassurances in this regard, unfounded allegations about his ongoing association with us and our fighters persist,” continued the statement.

Tyson Fury has previously been seen with now-wanted Daniel Joseph Kinahan in the past. When Sky Sports asked him about the connections with the founder, the boxer said, “It has nothing to do with me. And I don’t care.” MTK has said in the statement that the gyms associated with their company will still stay functioning given they are independently owned.

“MTK gyms are operated independently so will remain open for the foreseeable future. Further announcements will be made in due course. Thank you to all the fans who have supported use over the last decade,” stated the company officially.

Some of the biggest names signed to the promotion include WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, Michael Conland, Josh Taylor, Billy Saunder, Natasha Jonas, and more. Many fighters have defended Kinahan from his criminal involvement. UFC fighter Darren Till is also known for his connections with Daniel.
