MMA superstar Nate Diaz went up against YouTuber Jake Paul in a 10-round boxing match at American Airlines Center in Dallas. The fight was followed by a bunch of opinions and criticism from many boxing experts about the lack of competitive nature in the bout. One of them was Eddie Hearn, a famous British boxing promoter. Eddie Hearn outrightly criticized the boxing bout between Nate Diaz and Jake Paul.

Eddie Hearn went off on the fight and criticized Nate Diaz for his lack of knockout power. Hearn told MMA Hour that the bout was awful. Further, Hearn spoke about Diaz during the interview and praised for him for his ultra-durable nature. Nate Diaz savagely replied to Hearn’s comment on Twitter. The Stockton superstar tweeted, “Eddie Hearn I’ll beat all ur fighters asses. Lightweight middleweight Heavyweights any weight all of them will get fucked up. And unless it’s complimentary keep my name outta your mouth cause u might get it also. And fighters check your promoter so he doesn’t get u guys punked.” (H/T MMA Fighting)

Hearn has long sustained a rivalry with the YouTuber Jake Paul. After promoting his first fight, Hearn has constantly criticized “The Problem Child” for his choice of matchups and his level of boxing. Though Paul’s events have been successful in the past, they had involved MMA fighters rather than pro boxers. Paul’s approach to picking fights will only get praise when he starts to fight proven boxers rather than old MMA fighters.

But Hearn’s criticism of Paul also got directed towards Diaz, which led to its own ending. Though Diaz’s unorthodox style involved a lack of skill, it didn’t disappoint his side of the fans. The MMA world loves Nate Diaz for his unconventional nature and his heart in the fight. These elements heavily contributed to the success of the event.

The event held at American Airlines Center landed a huge payday for the fighters involved. Nate Diaz and Jake Paul may be opponents, but they were also 50/50 partners in this event. Reports suggest Diaz earned an 8 figure amount after the event, which turned out to be the biggest payday in his entire career. Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions and Diaz’s Real Fighting, Inc. came together to launch this successful event.

Diaz and Paul will be splitting PPVs, ticket sales, merchandise, and all levels of sponsorship in and out of the ring. All of these sponsorships apparently add up to seven figures each. And, the ticket sales and PPVs take the amount past eight figures.

It has been unheard of in MMA for a fighter to earn such a huge amount, while this stint is pretty common for top boxers. Even though MMA has been a successful sport compared to boxing in terms of viewership but there have always been discrepancies in the pay they provide to the athletes.
